Alternative Uses for Condoms
Posted by Kenny Condom on Aug 17, 2015
If you think the only reason to buy condoms in Australia is to protect yourself during sex, you may want to pay close attention to this blog post. 99% of you are still going to buy condoms to have sex, which is the consensus “best use” for them, but we thought it would be fun to find out some other things people are using condoms for.
Protect your Smartphone
If you have to walk in the rain, a condom will keep your smartphone from getting wet. It’s a great conversation starter around swimming pools, too.
Ice Packs
Condoms filled with ice make great ice packs for injury or for keeping food cold.
Swimming
When swimming, a condom can protect you against microorganisms or even small catfish called candiru that can swim up the urethra and into the bladder. You probably won’t run into a candiru unless you go to South America and swim in the Amazon River, but you can’t be too careful.
Cleaning and Polishing
Condoms make great cleaning and polishing tools for items as diverse as CD’s and boots or shoes. Believe it or not, the lubricant can even help with dry hair.
Protect a Gun Barrel
A condom over the end of a gun barrel keeps water from going down the barrel when it’s raining. When you shoot, you don’t even have to bother with taking the condom off.
Research
Archaeologists often use condoms to collect water for research.
Drug Smuggling
We don’t condone drug smuggling, but international smugglers have been using condoms to smuggle drugs in the stomach for a long time. We have also heard of people getting drug tested and “borrowing” clean urine, storing it in a condom and wearing it against the skin to keep it to temperature. We don’t condone that, either.
Microphone Protector
When moving microphones around, a condom is a great protector against water and changes in humidity.
