Surprising Poll About Whether Men and Women Mind Using Condoms
Posted by Kenny Condom on Dec 03, 2015
A lot of people who buy condoms online often feel apprehensive about using a condom. They wonder what their prospective partner will think about it. If you fall into this category, you will definitely be interested in what a recent poll had to say about using condoms.
Durex, the manufacturer of Durex Condoms, recently polled young men and women in England from 16 to 24 years old about condom use. According to the poll, three out of four people were too embarrassed to talk about condoms. In 2014, there were approximately 440,000 diagnosed STIs in England. Most of these would have been prevented if everyone wore a condom.
Fear of Judgment
Many of the women who were interviewed were afraid that they would be judged as “slutty” or “uncool” if they carried condoms and expected men to use them. In the Durex video for their campaign, one woman mentioned “fear of rejection” as making them apprehensive about asking a man to wear a condom.
These results were somewhat expected. They are why we always deliver condoms discreetly to our customers. But the big surprise? A majority of the young men interviewed and polled thought it was a “turn on” if a woman brought condoms along. One young man’s point of view was that if the woman brings condoms along, it means she is more “into it.”
So, how many of the young men answered that it was a “turn on” for a woman to bring condoms? 79%.
What We Think
We know this survey was performed by a company that makes and sells condoms. It is also obvious that we sell condoms. So there may be some bias on all sides. But the bottom line is that both men and women like it if the other person insists on having safe sex. Everybody’s safe and everybody’s happy.
